As the campus community prepares for Thanksgiving break and the holiday season ahead, it’s important for us to remember the university’s protocols for COVID-19 mitigation.

Daily Symptom Checking

All campus community members should use this symptom review every day prior to leaving your home, apartment or residence hall room. If you are impacted by seasonal allergies and/or have other chronic health conditions, it may be in your best interest to reach out to your primary-care provider to assess if your symptoms might be related to those issues rather than COVID-19.

In the absence of those circumstances, if you answer “yes” that you are experiencing any ONE of the symptoms below or you have tested positive, you should not come to campus, go to class or come to work. If you are at work or class and develop any of the symptoms below, leave immediately and follow the notification stages listed below. If you have questions about your scheduled COVID-19 testing, please email COVIDtesting@uml.edu.

  • Fever/chills with a recorded temperature above 100.3 Fahrenheit
  • Having taken any medication for the purpose of reducing a fever within the past four hours
  • Cough
  • Muscle aches
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of taste or smell

If you test positive for COVID-19:

Students:

If you live on campus or are commuting to campus, call the COVID line at 978-934-COV2 (2682) or email Student_SymptomReporting@uml.edu to talk to a health care professional. You should stay in your room or at home until you talk to the professional to discuss next steps to support your health and the health of our community. If you are taking classes remotely, please consider contacting your primary-care provider.

Employees:

Contact your primary-care provider to inform them of your symptoms. Also contact your supervisor and email the COVID-19 HR Response Team at COVID19HR@uml.edu or call Kim Casey at 978-934-3557.

For additional information, visit the COVID-19 website.

Wishing all a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.
