Research Interests

Understanding and addressing health disparities among Southeast Asian populations through community-engaged, mixed-methods research that examines the effects of historical trauma, social determinants of health, and structural inequities on behavioral health, chronic disease, and access to care, with the goal of developing culturally grounded interventions that promote whole-person health across the life course.

Biosketch

Angela Consentino, MPH, is a doctoral candidate in epidemiology and a research assistant with the Center for Population Health at UMass Lowell. Her research focuses on substance use epidemiology, health disparities, and community-engaged research, with a particular interest in Southeast Asian populations. She studies how social determinants of health, historical trauma, and structural inequities shape behavioral health outcomes, substance use risk, and access to care. Her work seeks to inform culturally tailored interventions and public health strategies that improve whole-person health and advance health equity in diverse communities.
