John Brown, Ph.D., joins the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy
(BOSTON) John Brown, Ph.D., will spend the coming year developing his skills as an education leader by participating in the Massachusetts Education Policy Fellowship (MEPF), run by the Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy. This program brings together leaders from a range of education organizations seeking to understand and advance equitable education policy. The 2022-23 MEPF program will feature a variety of virtual sessions and workshops with prominent leaders, including former Massachusetts Education Secretary Paul Reville. Fellows will also hear from leaders in the Massachusetts State House and U.S. Congress to learn about the policy process firsthand.
“This year, more than ever, we are excited to welcome a talented group of fellows to participate in MEPF,” said Chad d’Entremont, Ph.D., executive director for the Rennie Center. “As our country grapples with the impact of the pandemic on student learning and wellbeing, the need for effective educational leadership and policymaking is clear. The 2022-23 MEPF fellows bring a wide range of perspectives and experiences to our program, and we look forward to working with them over the coming year to help fellows explore the state education policy context, identify opportunities for improving education through policy change, and build their networks in the education and policy communities.”
Brown joins MEPF as a veteran of both the Massachusetts public schools and Massachusetts public higher education system. As part of MEPF, he will interact with 32 other fellows working in a variety of roles, including teachers, school district administrators, researchers, nonprofit leaders, and state officials. “By the end of the program, fellows are in a strong position to move forward in their careers as education professionals and advance effective policy reform,” said d’Entremont.
