Each December, at their Holiday Party, LIRA awards a number of scholarships to full-time junior or senior students at UMass Lowell. Scholarships are given in the spirit of community service and are funded by voluntary donations from the LIRA members.

This year, the Learning in Retirement Association (LIRA) will award five $2,000 scholarships to outstanding UMass Lowell juniors and seniors.

Deadline: Monday, Oct. 30, 2023 at 5 p.m.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, the application must:

  1. Required to be full-time
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.000 or better
  3. Student is required participate in extracurricular and/or community service activity
  4. Student must obtain a reference from a UMass Lowell professor/community service supervisor.
  5. Finally, the scholarship award must be applied to the following spring semester.

We encourage all qualified students to watch for the announcement each fall and submit an application. LIRA awards scholarships in early December at the annual LIRA holiday party.
