Biosketch

Mark S. Cochran served as president and CEO of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union for 17 years before retiring in the summer of 2024. Under his leadership, the credit union’s assets grew from $600 million to $2.1 billion, membership more than doubled and staffing increased by 48%. 

Cochran championed community investment, most notably with the redevelopment of two buildings in Lowell’s Acre neighborhood, creating 32 homes for moderate-income families. 

He founded the We Share a Common Thread Foundation, which has donated more than $4 million to regional nonprofits. He also expanded Jeanne D’Arc’s branch network, established high school branches and deepened the organization’s partnership with local institutions, including UMass Lowell Athletics. 

Named CEO of the Year in 2022 by the Cooperative Credit Union Association, Cochran is celebrated for his values-driven leadership, unwavering community commitment and belief in the power of collaboration to create lasting economic and social impact.
