The STEM Starter Academy (SSA) is a bridge program for Massachusetts Community College students interested in the STEM fields. Get a head start on your path toward a UML degree!

This program offers potential Community College transfer students the opportunity to take a free course during our second summer session (July 6- Aug. 22) while also taking advantage of free transfer workshops and academic success coaching. This is an in-person program and students will be expected to take classes and participate in workshops on the UML campus.

Participants in the SSA will

  • Take a free 3-credit class required for students in selected STEM fields
  • Connect with a cohort of other Community College Transfer Students with similar interests and goals
  • Meet your transfer advisors and department faculty members
  • Attend Transfer Success workshops with information on getting to know the university, time management, goal setting and more
  • Participate in social and networking events
