Shanna Rose Thompson 

Shanna is the Center for Program Evaluation (CPE)’s Manager. She also serves as the Project Manager for the Science Express grants and adjuncts for the School of Education, Honors, and Office of Sustainability Departments. She has been teaching and working on numerous research projects at the University of Massachusetts Lowell since 2008. She previously served as a high school mathematics teacher in alternative schools in San Francisco and New Orleans.


Full-time Graduate Research Assistants

Bernardo Feliciano

Bernardo is a doctoral student in the School of Education's Research and Evaluation in Education program. Since 2020, he has been a research assistant for the CS Pathways Researcher Partnership, which is developing sustainable middle school computer science programs in three cities. Before coming to UMass Lowell, he worked with schools, small-businesses, non-profits, and government agencies as a teacher, administrator, consultant, and fund-raiser.

Siffat Sharmin

Siffat Ara Sharmin is a doctoral student in the School of Education's Research and Evaluation in Education program. She received a BEd degree in Social Science in Education from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and an MEd degree in Educational Evaluation & Research from Boston College. She worked as a research assistant in multiple projects on Education in Bangladesh. At the CPE, she has been working as a research assistant since 2019 and is involved in two projects: ADVANCE and Cool Science. She is bilingual, speaking both Bangla and English.

Tonghui Xu

Tonghui Xu is a doctoral student in the School of Education's Research and Evaluation in Education program. His research interest includes engineering education, statistics, and big data in education. He has been working as a research assistant at the CPE since August 2021. He is bilingual, speaking both Chinese and English.

Xiaoye Yang

Xiaoye Yang is a doctoral student in the School of Education's Research and Evaluation in Education program. She has been involved in the language and education field, holding various roles such as student, researcher, and teacher since 2012. She has been working as a research assistant at the CPE since August 2021. She is bilingual, speaking both Chinese and English.

Golnar Fotouhi

Golnar Fotouhi is a doctoral student at the School of Education's Research and Evaluation in Education program. She has a B.A. in Translation studies and an M.A. in Applied linguistics. She is a TA in the School of Education and is also engaged in research on multilingual learners in schools. She is bilingual herself and speaks Persian and English. She is also a reviewer for MATSOL. She will be working in the CPE during Summer 2022.


Part-time Undergraduate Research Assistants

Eisha Haroon

Eisha is an undergraduate student in the Manning School of Business studying MIS and Marketing. She is a part of the honors college. She began working at the CPE as a research assistant through the immersive scholar's program. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Urdu. 

Ida Tewoutchoyo

Ida is an undergraduate student in the Manning School of Business studying Finance and MIS. She is the Honors College and also a member of Women in Business, The Association of Students of African Origin, and The Black Student Union. Ida was also born in West Africa. She is multilingual, speaking Kabiye, English, and French.

Holly DeAngelis

Holly is an undergraduate student in the Kennedy College of Sciences studying Math as well as Business Administration and teaching. She is working at the CPE as a research assistant through the Immersive Scholar's Program. Holly is also a member of the Business Analytics Society, the Management Society, and the Catholic Student Union. 

Maddalana Emond

Maddalana is an undergraduate student in the Kennedy College of Science studying Computer Science. She is a first-generation student and is a peer leader with the River Hawk Scholars Academy. She is also a member of Phi Sigma Rho, a local sorority on campus. She is working at the CPE as a research assistant through the Immersive Scholar's Program.

Haad Naeem

Haad is an undergraduate student in the Kennedy College of Sciences studying biology. He is also part of the the Honors College and a member of the Pre-Med Club. He is working at the CPE as a research assistant through the Immersive Scholar's Program. He is bilingual, fluent in both Urdu and English.

Zachary Katimy

Zachary is an undergraduate student in the Francis College of Engineering pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He is part of the Honors College and began working as a program evaluation assistant for the CPE through the immersive scholar’s program. He is also a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society at UMass Lowell.
