Noy Thrupkaew, an anti-human-trafficking activist and UMass Lowell's 2017 Greeley Scholar for Peace Studies, discussed the causes and impact of labor exploitation at the university's recent annual Day Without Violence at the O'Leary Library, attended by more than 100 people from the campus and community. As this year's peace scholar, Thrupkaew will guest-lecture in courses on the topic through UMass Lowell's Peace and Conflict Studies Program this month and lead other events for the public.
