Workplace Learning & Development

UMass Lowell offers a wide variety of programs to help you build skills for the role you have today, and to help foster your career growth and personal development.

From training classes and workshops, to career development programs, management and team development programs, and certificate programs, the Workplace Learning & Development team provides the resources to achieve your personal and professional goals.

Most of the courses have a capacity of 20 participants and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participation is on a voluntary basis, with supervisory approval.

Employees should discuss any training plans and dates with their supervisor to ensure there is adequate coverage. To the extent that it is possible and practical, supervisors are encouraged to allow their staff to participate in professional development opportunities.

Upcoming Dialogue Opportunities sponsored by the Intergroup Dialogue Team

Division of Student Affairs is offering several current event dialogue sessions for the campus focused on the topic of race and ethnicity. These are all one hour, stand-alone dialogue sessions. Upcoming sessions include: 
  • Navigating a Sense of Loss & Difficult Conversations on 07/21/2020 at 2 p.m.
  • Intersections of Race & Gender on 07/23/2020 at 10 a.m.
  • The Impact of the Pandemic on the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Population on July 30, 2020 at 3 p.m.
  • Racial Bias in the Media on 08/04/2020 at 1 p.m.
