Scholarships

Each December LIRA awards a number of scholarships to full-time junior or senior students at UMass Lowell. Scholarships are given in the spirit of community service and are funded by voluntary donations from the LIRA members.

UMass Lowell Learning in Retirement Association Student Scholarship

Each year, the Learning in Retirement Association awards $1500 scholarships to outstanding UMass Lowell juniors and seniors.

Deadline: Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 5 p.m.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this award, the application must:

  1. Required to be full-time
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better
  3. Student is required participate in extracurricular and/or community service activity
  4. Student must to obtain a reference from a UMass Lowell professor/community service supervisor. 
  5. Finally, the scholarship award must be applied to the following spring semester. 

We encourage all qualified students to watch for the announcement each fall and submit an application. LIRA awards scholarships in early December at the annual LIRA holiday party.
