The Smithsonian Is Coming to Lowell!
Lowell Public School Teachers
Register by February 28 (prior to other districts) to secure your spot in the Smithsonian Teacher Creativity Studio Workshops coming to the Tsongas Industrial History Center this spring. At this free, all-day workshop, you will create activities that integrate Asian Pacific American stories and experiences (from the Smithsonian’s collection as well as from Lowell’s own Southeast Asian communities) for powerful lessons that engage students.
Saturday, April 7 or May 12 (choose one date)
8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Open to K-12 teachers, librarians, administrators, and curriculum developers
- Earn up to 15 PDPs
- Lunch provided
- $100 stipend for those who complete workshop requirements
Participants will receive:
- Digital resources and tools from the Smithsonian Learning Lab, UMass Lowell’s Southeast Asian Digital Archive and Center for Lowell History, and Lowell National Historical Park
- Classroom-ready models for integrating Asian Pacific American stories and experiences into curricula
Both Lowell sessions include a special panel discussion with members of Lowell’s Southeast Asian communities who will speak about their life experiences.
