Bread & Roses Centennial Symposium, Lawrence
Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, 2012
When 30,000 workers walked out of Lawrence’s textile mills in the dead of a New England winter in January 1912, they launched an epic confrontation between capital and labor. To commemorate the event, the Lawrence History Center with the support of several universities throughout New England will host a centennial symposium in Lawrence Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, 2012. Friday evening’s events will include a concert and art exhibit and be held in the Centennial exhibit space in the Everett Mill, scheduled to open on Jan. 12, 2012. Teachers and students encouraged to attend.
We encourage high school student submissions for presentation at the symposium and have extended the deadline for high school proposals to Sept. 30, 2011.
