Research Interests

My research goal is to discover new indications for already approved drugs (drug repurposing). To do this, I develop new methods to mine both genetic data and data on known drug health effects.

Biosketch

Panagiotis is a Ph.D. student in Applied Biology at UMass Lowell (Melamed lab; PI: Dr. Rachel Melamed). He has background in Pharmacy and in Pharmacoepidemiology. He is excited about research and its impact on patients’ lives. To achieve this, he enjoys conducting translational research on the crossroads of Computational Biology, Data Science and Epidemiology through mining of diverse biomedical data sources. Eventually, his ambition is to become an expert computational biologist in the area of drug discovery. In his spare time, he enjoys going out with friends, traveling and playing basketball.
