A project of this scope requires the concerted efforts of many individuals and organizations.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation and the Lowell Plan who generously provided funds. The Donahue Center for Business Ethics awarded Assoc. Professor Marie Frank an Ethical Leadership Fellowship in 2023, and continues to serve as a home for the project.
Videotaping, editing, and digitizing of the interviews required a host of contributors. Tory Wesnofske recorded and edited the majority of the interviews. Two UMass Lowell Moloney Scholars, Sammy Santana and Matt Murphy recorded four interviews, and Matt also did the first rough edits of the three zoom interviews. Angel Disla, a Digital Media major at UMass Lowell, edited three of the interviews. Nicole Tantum, Digital Archivist at the Center for Lowell History, cataloged and uploaded the interviews onto the UMass Lowell Libraries’ YouTube channel. Website created with assistance from Tracey Greene, Adjunct Professor of Web Design and Creative Director at Digital Artisans. Diann Bouthot skillfully managed the invoices.
Tracking down images of events and buildings mentioned in the interviews was greatly aided by Carisa Kolias at the Center for Lowell History, and Steven Stowell, Administrator of the Lowell Historic Board. Maryann Cash of Enterprise Bank generously assisted with images for George Duncan’s interview. Patrick Cook kindly facilitated access to the Middlesex Community College photo collection. DBVW Architects of Providence, RI, provided the “before/after” shots of the Lowell Community Health Center. Kevin Harkins kindly allowed use of his ArtUp photographs. Many of the interviewees shared their own personal collections of photos and ephemera. Richard P. Howe, Jr. regularly shared his knowledge of people and events in Lowell’s history.
A warm thank you is also extended to all the interviewees for their willingness to participate, finding time for the initial interview and then for answering all the follow up emails about photographs and additional information.
