The accreditation recognizes the strength and quality of a program that prepares students for careers in behavior analysis through a combination of academic study, research and hands-on experience. It also reflects the work of the faculty, students and community partners who have helped build and strengthen the ABAAS program.
ABAI accreditation is awarded to behavior analysis programs that successfully complete a comprehensive review and meet the organization’s standards for academic and professional training. For ABAAS, earning accreditation recognizes the high-quality education and training the program provides its students.
The master’s program follows a scientist-practitioner model, encouraging students to connect what they learn in the classroom with research and practical experience. Through coursework and supervised fieldwork, students develop the knowledge and skills needed to pursue careers as behavior analysts, including preparation to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and pursue licensure as applied behavior analysts in Massachusetts.
That preparation extends beyond the classroom. Students have opportunities to gain experience with affiliated community agencies serving clients across the lifespan and in a variety of settings. Working alongside professionals in the field allows students to put what they are learning into practice while gaining valuable experience before graduation.
The program’s faculty bring expertise in behavior analysis, autism, research and related areas of psychology. Through teaching, research and mentorship, faculty help students explore how behavioral science can be used to address real-world needs and make a difference in the communities they serve.
The new accreditation is not only a recognition of the program itself, but also of the people who have helped it grow. From faculty mentoring and research to student learning and community partnerships, the achievement reflects the work taking place throughout the ABAAS community.
The Psychology Department is proud of the faculty, students, alumni and community partners who helped the program reach this milestone and looks forward to building on that success in the years ahead.
Congratulations to the entire ABAAS community!
