Description

This course introduces the theoretical principles and practical applications of diagnostic techniques and clinical laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy. As one of the first processional course in the Applied Biomedical Sciences major, it emphasizes both qualitative and quantitative methods, incorporating manual and automated laboratory techniques with particular focus on hematology. The course establishes a foundation in clinical laboratory practices, including the biology of normal red and white blood cells.

Prerequisites

HSCI.1010 Anatomy & Physiology I, or BIOL.1110 Principles of Biology I, or BIOL.1120 Principles of Biology II, and Applied Biomedical Sciences (ABS) BS only or Permission of Instructor.
