Description

This course prepares future educators and related service professionals to effectively design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through collaborative, student-centered practices. Candidates will learn how to engage families, general and special educators, specialists, administrators, and community partners as active contributors i the IEP process, ensuring that each plan reflects the strengths, needs, cultural identities, and goals of students with disabilities, Emphasis is placed on legal and ethical foundations, data-driven decision making, inclusive instructional planning, and the development of measurable goals, accommodations, and supports aligned with federal and stat regulations. Through case studies, simulated IEP meetings, analysis of real-world scenarios, and reflective practice, students will develop skills in effective communication, collaborative problem-solving, and culturally responsive partnership-building. By the end of the course, candidates will be able to create high-quality, equitable IEPs and implement them with fidelity to support meaningful access, participation, and progress for diverse learners across school settings.

BA.ED Majors only.
