Description

This course allows students to explore their career interests through a required externship (job shadowing experience) and structured career development assignments and activities. Through a combination of hands-on activities, guided reflection, and peer presentations, students will develop and apply key networking, communication, and career readiness skills. Students will learn how to navigate professional platforms such as Linkedin, build meaningful connections with professionals in their field of interest, and prepare thoughtful questions to guide their job shadow experience. During the externship, students will observe professionals in their field of interest, gaining first-hand insight into workplace culture, expectations, and day-to-day responsibilities. After completing the externship, students will present their findings and reflections to the class, building both presentation and critical thinking skills.

Prerequisites

ENGL.1020 College Writing II, and ZCHS Students Only.
