Description

This course prepares future educators to design, adapt, and implement effective instruction that meets the diverse academic, linguistic, cultural, and developmental needs of learners across all content areas. Grounded in principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), culturally and linguistically responsive teaching, and evidence-based instructional strategies, the course emphasizes designing accessible, rigorous lessons that promote engagement, representation, and expression for all students, including multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and those with varied learning profiles. candidates will learn to analyze curriculum standards, differentiate instruction, integrate assistive and instructional technologies, and use data to guide planning and responsive decision-making. Through case studies, collaborative planning, and practice-based applications, students will develop the skills necessary to create inclusive learning environments that foster meaningful participation, high expectations, and equitable outcomes across disciplines. By the end of the course, candidates will be able to design and implement standards-aligned, flexible instruction that ensures all learners can access, engage with, and succeed in content-area learning.

Pre-Req: ENGL 1020 College Writing II.
