Description

Book Love is a course in independent reading, designed for future teachers and other readers. Students will choose books they have not read before but expect to love. Using recommendations form the professor, classmates, and reviewers, students will move form familiar genres and authors to unfamiliar and more challenging texts. Students will complete 4-5 hours of reading outside class each week and exit the course with an overview of the genres and authors they and their classmates love. Each week students will strive to increase stamina, confidence, and fluency. Written work will culminate in a plan for using independent reading in future teaching and personal lives.
