Description

This integrated clinical experience course provides experiences that are commensurate with a DPT student's current academic level. It is designed to expose novice DPT students to physical therapist practice prior to their formal Clinical Education Experiences. Beyond additional clinical experience and exposure, second and third-year DPT students will engage in a mentorship model to develop teaching and professional leadership skills integral to the student experience. Under the direct supervision of licensed physical therapists, DPT students will apply knowledge and clinical skills from lecture and laboratory coursework directly to patients. Students will apply the patient-client management model for health promotion and wellness, and the restoration of function while practicing clinical documentation, patient and peer communication, and the development of professional core values.
