Id: 041600 Credits Min: 3 Credits Max: 3

Description

This course provides grounding in the principles and practice of protein x-ray crystallography, with some applications in structural bioinformatics and drug discovery. This course is comprised of a series of lecture with an emphasis on practical methodologies of modern protein crystallography and structural bioinformatics. The course will cover the fundamental knowledge about x-ray physics, instrumentation and geometrical diffraction, protein crystallization, macromolecular data collection and processing, phase estimation and improvement, model building and assessment, and some exploration of bioinformatics tools employed in structure prediction and molecular docking.
