Mission of the department of public health

The program's mission is:

To promote health and wellbeing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and beyond through transdisciplinary education, research and collaborations that create transformative, sustainable and equitable public health science, policy and practice.

We do this by:

  • Education to prepare diverse public health leaders who can advance health in all policies
  • Research that transforms public health science and policy
  • Collaborations with diverse communities to attain the highest level of health for all people

Unique Specializations - In addition to gaining a strong foundation in public health, BS students will incorporate a specialty focus on community health/health promotion or health sciences. Master's students will choose dietetics, epidemiology, healthcare management or social and behavioral sciences.

Sustainability Expertise - Students in the public health programs will graduate with an appreciation of the importance of sustainability in promoting and maintaining the health populations from an environmental, community and economic perspective.
