We’re excited to continue to support you and your students this year! Please don’t hesitate to take advantage of all the amazing resources available for your research and teaching needs, from our books (both print and ebooks), videos, and databases, to our Ask A Librarian service and LibGuides for research support.

Both O'Leary Library on South and Lydon Library on North are open and available. Our hours for the semester are:

  • Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. to midnight
  • Friday 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday 12:30 p.m. to midnight

If you are researching the history of Lowell or the university and need to access our Special Collections Library, you can do so by making an appointment to visit the Center for Lowell History.

When you or your students need help with research, Ask A Librarian is available. Our FAQs cover hundreds of topics and you can email ask@uml.libanswers.com for personalized help. We have drop-in and Zoom help available and will be announcing open workshops both in-person and on Zoom soon!

Our library staff has changed over the last year. There are new faces to meet and people to wish good luck as they leave.

Denise Chandonnet, Kelly Morin and Celine Beaudry are off to their next adventures after retiring this year.

Moonyung Kang-Larsen joined us as our new Digital Services & Technology Librarian. She’s working behind the scenes to make sure you have easy access to databases and to make it easier to find important content.

Russell Perry transitioned to a full-time position as our Online Services & Reference Coordinator on the Research & Learning team. He has been working to rebuild our reference and research support services.

Julia Joyce in Access Services also transitioned to a full-time position as our Access Services Associate at Lydon Library.

Yolanda Hood is our new First-Year Experience & Instruction Coordinator on the Research & Learning team. She will be working to support our students, faculty, and staff who are getting comfortable on campus and with the work they need to do!

Are you showing a video to your students? We’ve launched an online request form for the streaming video content you use in your classes. You let us know the movie, documentary, or other video content you want to share with your students, and we’ll find streaming access from one of our many partners. You can submit your digital media requests.

Remember, when publishing your work in Wiley and IOP journals, the library has an agreement to help cover the cost of open-access publishing. If you’re curious to know more about this or want us to explore this with other publishers, contact Amanda Rust.

Remember, you can visit the main library webpage for direct access to everything we offer.

We look forward to helping you find answers to your questions so you can thrive and succeed in your classes. Have a great year!
