Abstract:
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a major environmental concern due to their persistence and health risks. Traditional photocatalytic methods face challenges in breaking down PFAS, particularly C-F bonds, because of inefficient catalysis. Recent advancements in plasmonic photocatalysis, however, have shown potential in overcoming limitations by enhancing light absorption and catalytic efficiency for PFAS degradation. In this proposal, it will cover the design of plasmonic nanoparticles with specific sizes, shapes, and compositions to optimize the degradation process.
All interested students and faculty members are invited to attend.
