Poet Shangyang Fang will read from his celebrated debut collection, "Burying the Mountain" (Copper Canyon Press, 2021) for the English Department’s Writers on Campus series on Tuesday, March 12 at 5:30 p.m. in Coburn 255. 

Fang grew up in Chengdu, China, and composes poems both in English and Mandarin. While studying civil engineering at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, he realized his bigger passion lies in the architecture of language. A graduate of the Michener Center for Writers and a recent Stegner fellow, he is the recipient of the Joy Harjo Poetry Award and Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Prize. He teaches in the graduate creative writing program at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
