Welcome back to another semester at UMass Lowell! Whether you’re a freshman writing an essay, a grad student beginning a research project, or a faculty member setting up course reserves, the UML Library staff is ready to help answer questions and connect you to the information you need.

This spring, library reference hours will be effective from Jan. 16 through the end of the semester, excluding holidays and university closures. Please check the calendar on the Library website for the latest updates.

We offer a range of methods for students, faculty and staff to connect with our reference librarians.

In-person research help will be available on the first floor Information Desk at both Lydon Library (on North Campus) and O’Leary Library (South Campus)! You can get walk-up research help from our reference librarians Monday-Wednesday afternoons from 12:30-4:30 p.m.

Additionally, you can chat with a reference librarian in real time, Monday-Thursday evenings from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and Friday afternoons from 1-3 p.m. Visit uml.libanswers.com to start chatting today.

We’re also pleased to offer bookable Video Consults, where you can reserve a virtual appointment to meet with a reference librarian via Zoom. Appointments are generally available Monday-Friday, but times will vary. To check for appointment times or book a session, send an email to ask@uml.libanswers.com. Please make reservations at least 24 hours in advance.

Can't make it for Walk-Up Research Help, Live Chat hours, or a Video Consult? No problem! You can reach out to the reference librarians at any time by sending an email to ask@uml.libanswers.com.
