UMass Lowell labs or faculty conducting research in STEM or Engineering, or companies associated with the Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center, may host high school student(s) for six to eight weeks between June- and August 2024. The program is structured so that students work up to 240 hours (30-40 hrs/week) with their stipends fully covered by our funders. Please note that faculty/staff time is not compensated. However, this program enables you to share your passion for research with underrepresented, underresourced youth from Lowell and the local community who may otherwise not have this type of opportunity.
If you are interested in hosting a student(s) this summer, please indicate your interest by filling out this PROPEL form by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan 19. If you have any questions, please contact Yanfen_Li@uml.edu or Adam_StJean@uml.edu.
Our Funding: The PROPEL program has funding for research related to life sciences (including medicine, health, medical devices, bioinformatics, etc.) and is currently exploring other funding avenues for non-life sciences related research. If you are able to propose a research project related to life science, that is encouraged. If you have grants or other funding sources that can sponsor outreach programs, we can help you satisfy that project objective. Please reach out to Yanfen_Li@uml.edu if you have any questions.
Thank you for your interest in this program!
*The PROPEL Careers program is supported by the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, Project Learn, and the Francis College of Engineering.
