Microsoft is set to roll out updates to several of their applications in the upcoming months.
The first of these will be the new Teams for Mac and Windows. Boasting a refreshed appearance, incorporating exciting new features, and utilizing only half the memory compared to its predecessor, this optimization boosts overall work efficiency and interactions within Teams.
For most users, the option to "Try the New Teams" may already be visible, while others will find it appearing in the menu bar starting this week. We encourage you to toggle the option on for the new Teams experience in advance of the mandatory switch to acclimate to the new features. Being able to revert in certain instances will alleviate change pressure for some users and provide a smoother transition experience. Despite the option to switch back to the previous version being available for now, Microsoft plans to enforce a mandatory transition to the new version in January 2024, eliminating the option to toggle between versions.
While IT cannot override Microsoft's update schedule, we recognize change as an intrinsic aspect of software and technology. Thus, we hope you will follow us as we embrace this transition to the updated Teams version.
