Volunteers are a vital part of any university community as they bring a special energy to campus that inspires students, faculty and staff. As members of our campus community, you can help us engage volunteers and build opportunities on campus by utilizing our new volunteer management platform.
We have streamlined volunteer management and recruitment using the UML Connect platform, an exclusive UMass Lowell online networking platform. UML Connect serves as our Volunteer Engagement Hub and a resource for faculty and staff.
Ways for faculty and staff to partner in volunteer engagement:
- Join UML Connect as a faculty/staff user and complete a profile - This will take you no more than two minutes to complete.
- Encourage alumni and students to join UML Connect. In addition to volunteer opportunities, UML Connect is a helpful tool for students and alumni seeking career advice.
- Reach out to the Alumni Office to:
- strategize and utilize UML Connect
- notify the alumni team as volunteers sign up for your initiative
- Create communications to solicit volunteers.
Example ways that alumni volunteers can help support university programs:
- Admissions: Assist with recruitment efforts.
- Career Services: Assist with career-connected experiences and internships.
- Committees: Participate on a reunion committee or volunteer board.
- Community Service: Engage in community service initiatives.
- Expertise Sharing: Serve as an expert speaker, panelist or judge.
- Events: Host or sponsor an event or help market events.
- Philanthropy: Raise money and awareness for key initiatives.
- Social Media: Serve as an online UML influencer.
- Video: Record video messages for various initiatives.
