The 2023 World Evaluation Case Competition: Go River Hawks!
Presented by James Fargnoli, Nadi Sahila, Meghan Johnson, Marian Dyer, Golnar Fotouhi.
The World Evaluation Case Competition (WECC) is an international student competition that presents an evaluation case. Each team of students develops a presentation, either in the form of a slide deck or paper, that demonstrates their understanding of the case and includes a brief evaluation plan. The 2023 WECC presented a case about Clean Start Africa, a rehabilitation program for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and girls based in Kenya. The United States was represented in the WECC by a team of students from the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s Research and Program Evaluation in Education Ph.D. program. Members of the team will present their experience in the competition within the context of their development as evaluators.
The mission of the Center for Program Evaluation (CPE) is to conduct research on program evaluation methods as well as to offer evaluation planning, consulting, training and services for the university, regional and global community. CPE offers program evaluation services that support the university’s missions of research, teaching, and service to the community and industry for both faculty and students.
