Needed: Faculty who want assistance on research, creative projects and community engagement projects!

The Honors Fellowship Program is now accepting applications for fellowships for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024. These are rolling applications. We would welcome your proposal whenever you send it.

Through our Fellowship Program, the Honors College will award qualified Honors students a stipend of $1,500 (applied to their student account) for approximately 100 hours of work to be completed within one year. Students also have the opportunity to potentially use this fellowship as an Honors Experiential Learning Opportunity, which would satisfy either an H4, H5, or H6 honors requirement.

There are three ways for faculty and students to take advantage of this opportunity:

  1. Faculty mentor and student have already found each other: fill out the Faculty Mentor and Student Fellowship Application together and email it to julian_zabalbeascoa@uml.edu.
  2. Faculty mentor has a project but needs help finding a qualified student: fill out the Faculty Mentor without a Student Application and email it to julian_zabalbeascoa@uml.edu. Honors students will be notified about the opportunity.

All applications are available through the Honors College Fellowships Libguide.

Note: All Fellowship projects should call for the student to engage in reading, writing (this can be a short reflection paper at the end of the Fellowship), and speaking. The speaking component will be a 15-minute presentation of their fellowship. These occur the first Tuesday of every month. It is important that the project offers a meaningful opportunity to the student to engage with the faculty mentor.
