  • Is driven by a mission to ensure that all faculty - of all backgrounds - feel valued and able to thrive at UML?
  • Promotes creative approaches to mentoring, unbiased hiring and promotion practices, equitable workloads, validating work climates, and policies that integrate the value for equity?
  • Is welcoming a new Faculty Director Mahdi Garelnabi, who is taking over from the inaugural director Meg Bond!

Leadership Team:
The ADVANCE OFE Leadership Team is a diverse group of faculty who work closely with the ADVANCE Faculty Director and the Program Director to regularly assess faculty needs, drive innovation, develop new programming, promote transparent communication with faculty, and serve as liaisons to other groups and initiatives that share equity goals. We strive for a team that is diverse in terms of social identities, ranks, faculty roles and disciplines.

Equity Leaders:
Equity Leaders are a diverse group of highly respected faculty members tasked with supporting OFE initiatives. They guide initiatives that promote equitable access to mentoring, foster a sense of community responsibility for addressing daily biases, and that promote inclusive institutional norms to counter marginalizing dynamics.

Advisory Board:
The Advisory Board includes individuals from within UMass Lowell with experience and expertise related to the mission of OFE and help to ensure that the work of the office is responsive to diverse faculty constituencies and coordinated with other university DEI efforts.
