UML's The New England Consortium Offering Virtual Events at No Cost on Following Topics:

Opioids and the Workplace May 22, 2023 9 a.m. - noon EDT

This 3-hour, no-cost, virtual Zoom course addresses the impact of opioid use disorder in the workplace, and various forms of prevention, including workplace injury prevention as well as workplace and organizational support programs for those experiencing substance use disorder. The course is intended for workers, employers, and organizations who may be impacted by the opioid crisis.

Climate Change, Chemical Safety, and Resilience May 24, 2023 9 a.m. - noon EDT
This event will be co-hosted by Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance.

This 3-hour, no-cost, virtual Zoom course includes the intensifying climate crisis extreme weather events and chemical safety in companies and communities; state and federal requirements for hazardous materials; emergency planning (including risk management plans); and building resilience within communities and organizations and at the individual level. This course will also address rising concerns across the country about chemical exposures in communities. Audience for this course is municipal organizations, companies, public emergency responders, non-profit institutions, and community organizations.

Disaster Preparedness (two offerings) May 25, 2023 and May 30, 2023, 9 a.m. - noon EDT

This 3-hour, no-cost virtual Zoom course is focused on decreasing the risk of worker injury and illness in responding to disasters such as storms and floods. In this training, participants work in small groups to practice how to assess and control hazards during a storm response. They also plan next steps in their own work settings in preparing for disasters as well as responding in mutual aid to other communities. This training is appropriate for all personnel, including supervisors, managers, foremen, and administrators involved in safety, planning, and related decision-making when responding to severe weather events.
