The Office of the Provost is pleased to help support up to 4 full-time assistant, associate or full teaching professors or senior adjunct faculty members with the opportunity to participate in one of the following two opportunities:

  • The 2023 Teaching Professor Annual Conference, June 9-11, 2023, New Orleans. Conference participants will have the opportunity to delve into pedagogy, share experiences with peers, and reengage your mind and teaching with new insights, new sights, and new friends.
  • National Effective Teaching Institute’s NETI-1 Workshop, July 26-28, 2023 at Purdue University, Indiana. In addition to the opportunity to network with the workshop facilitators and attendees, workshop participants will receive instruction and hands-on practice in the elements of effective teaching—motivating students, course planning, effective lecturing, active learning, inclusive teaching, assessment of learning, and dealing with the variety of problems that commonly arise in the life of a faculty member.
The Provost’s Office will cover the registration fees of up to $1,200 and participants will need to cover travel and other expenses using a combination of support from the faculty member’s professional development funds, home department, college or other sources. Please reach out to your department chair directly to initiate a discussion. Upon return, participants will be asked to share new insights with the UML community through a CELT workshop, contribution of materials to the CELT website, a lightning talk at the Faculty Symposium, or another format.

Fill out this online form to apply for funding. Applications must be received by May 15. Faculty members who receive the funding will be notified of the decision by May 17.
