Title: An Overview of SETI and Technosignatures
Short abstract:
Since the 1960s, astronomers have been searching for signs of technological life beyond Earth. No convincing signals have been found yet, but we have barely begun to search for these needles in the cosmic haystack. With so much of the universe left to search, astronomers are developing new techniques and collaborations, as well as seeing exciting recent growth in institutional support. In this talk, I will discuss how the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) began, how much progress has been made and how astronomers are searching for technosignatures today.
