The Blackboard Learning Management system will be upgraded from our current version, known as Blackboard Learn, to Blackboard Base Navigation on May 11, 2023. Base Navigation provides a modernized menu and additional features for users on the initial screen, but this upgrade won’t impact your Blackboard courses at all – they will look and function exactly as is.

Base Navigation provides a more focused entry point, designed with accessibility and mobility in mind. Base Navigation provides quick access to the most critical information across all of your courses. This upgrade will provide a modern, intuitive digital experience for users.

This upgrade will not change any of the following:

  • Blackboard login
  • Content
  • Functionality of all course tools: announcements, tests, discussion boards, grade center, items, etc.
  • User interface in courses
  • Third-party integrations

The Base Navigation Information website will be the place for all information related to this change. Graduate, Online, and Professional Studies (GPS) and Academic Technology will communicate regularly about this change and will be hosting virtual demos of Base Navigation in April for faculty. Virtual Drop-in Sessions will be available immediately following the upgrade in May, and again before the Fall semester begins.
