Do you know someone who is making an outstanding difference on campus and should be honored for their exceptional dedication to students? Consider nominating them, or yourself, for one of seven UMass Lowell Faculty Excellence Awards (formerly known as Faculty Honors Awards Committee). The new process is streamlined to simplify the process and handled through our InfoReady system. To learn all details about each award and evaluation criteria and to apply, please refer to the Faculty Excellence Awards website.

Please keep in mind:

  • Faculty may self-nominate/apply for a single award per year.
  • Nominators may nominate up to three faculty colleagues, with no more than one nomination per category.

Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching

This award honors contributions faculty make to undergraduate-level instruction. The university recognizes the distinctive qualities that guide excellence when working with undergraduate students.

Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching

This award honors contributions faculty make to graduate-level instruction. The university recognizes the distinctive qualities that guide excellence when working with master’s and doctoral students.

Award for Excellence in Teaching by an Adjunct Faculty Member

This award honors individual adjunct faculty members who exemplify a deep commitment to excellence in teaching. UMass Lowell prides itself on outstanding teaching and recognizes the efforts made by adjunct faculty to make their classes engaging and to enhance learning outcomes.

New: Award for Excellence in Online Teaching

This award honors contributions faculty make to online instruction. The university recognizes the distinctive qualities that guide excellence when teaching online and working with online students.

New: Award for Excellence in Mentoring RHSA Students

This award recognizes the exceptional service of one faculty member who has made major contributions in the area of mentoring first-generation college students in the River Hawk Scholars Academy.

New: Award for Excellence in Mentoring Honors College Students

This award recognizes the exceptional service of one faculty member who has made major contributions in the area of mentoring students in Honors College at UMass Lowell on their theses and projects.

New: Award for Faculty Excellence in Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

This award recognizes exemplar faculty who work collaboratively to build a more diverse, inclusive and equitable climate at UMass Lowell. The University is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment that nurtures the growth and development of our learners, faculty, and staff.

2023 Award process timeline

  • Feb. 22: Application portal opens
  • March 31: Applications deadline
  • March 31-April 21: Faculty Excellence Committee applications review
  • Early May: Announcement of winners
