We are excited to offer the Advancement of Mentoring Practice Program (AMPP) at UMass Lowell! This program supports Ph.D. students in the beginning stages of research to become independent researchers and to succeed in their programs!

Faculty advisors and their student advisee pairs are encouraged to participate in the program! AMPP helps faculty/student pairs establish clear expectations and develop students’ Individual Development Plan for future career success. Advisors are required to join AMPP along with their students as they play an imperative role in communicating their expectations to increase research productivity.

AMPP involves three parts:

  1. Advisors will have 5 bi-weekly discussions on how to best mentor students,
  2. Advisees will attend 5 bi-weekly workshops to learn how to become an independent researcher,
  3. Advisor and advisee will meet outside the program periodically to discuss topics learned.

Learn more about AMPP.

Spring 2023 discussions and workshops will take place on Thursdays at noon in UCC 242.

If you are interested in learning more or participating in this program, please complete an application (both faculty and student must complete). Applications are rolling; final deadline is Jan. 18, 2023.
