As in the past, partial closing of campus offices and operations provides significant energy and operational savings during the weeks between semesters. Our goal during this time is to identify opportunities for energy conservation while providing essential services for student success.

Partial Closing periods:

Friday, Nov. 25, 2022 as well as from the close of business on Friday, Dec. 23 through Friday, Jan. 6, 2023.

Partial Closing defined: Only operations and offices determined by deans and vice chancellors that are critical for university operations and student success, recruitment and retention shall remain physically open on campus during this time.

All staff members not required to work to maintain critical university operations and student success, recruitment and retention during these times are encouraged to use available vacation or personal leave time, consistent with their collective bargaining agreements or personnel policies.  Employees also may take the time off without pay, if they have not accrued sufficient vacation or personal time. Non-benefited, part-time employees who do not work during that period will not be paid.

Employees who choose to work, and who cannot work remotely, may be temporarily relocated if their office or building is closed.  Area department heads and managers will be responsible for determining assignments for employees who work during this time. Employees who have concerns regarding special accommodations should contact the Office of Equal Opportunity and Outreach. Faculty members with questions about specific academic areas should contact their department chairs who will make decisions in consultation with the deans.

All buildings will be secured and require card access.  Certain buildings, offices and laboratories will remain open for continued research and winter intersession classes and student services (beginning on Dec. 27).  A list of those areas in each college will be determined by the vice chancellors and deans and will be announced at a later date.

Regular campus operations will begin on Monday, Jan. 9 to ensure a successful, vibrant start to the spring semester.
