The Francis College of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, invites you to attend a doctoral dissertation defense by Boyang Xiang on “Plasmonic Optical Antenna Enhanced Photodetector for High Sensitivity Imaging and Voltage-Dependent Band Tuning Photodetection Utilizing the Moss-Burstein Effect.”
Candidate Name: Boyang Xiang
Defense Date: Friday, Nov. 18, 2022
Time: 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Location: This will be a virtual defense via Zoom. Those interested in attending should contact Boyang_xiang@student.uml.edu and committee advisor Xuejun_Lu@uml.edu at least 24 hours prior to the defense to request access to the meeting.
Committee:
- Xuejun Lu, Professor, EECE, UML
- Xingwei Wang, Professor, EECE, UML
- Tricia Chigan, Professor, EECE, UML
- Guiru Gu, Associate Professor, Physics, Stonehill College
Brief Abstract:
Plasmonic optical antenna enhancement for photodetectors will be presented in the defense meeting. The optical antennas can be easily fabricated and fit into small pixels of camera CMOS or FPAs which will enhance low signal performance to achieve a goal of better low light performance in cameras. A voltage dependent band tuning method utilizing the Moss-Burstein effect will also be included in the defense.
All interested students and faculty members are invited to attend the online defense via remote access.
