Please join the Lowell Center for Space Science and Technology and the Space Science Lab for "Innovation that makes a difference" by Michael Stenner on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m.

Abstract:

I will discuss MITRE's strategic engagement in several technology areas, including microelectronics, artificial intelligence, RF advancements, and advanced manufacturing. I will begin by briefly (I promise) discussing the role and history of Federally Funded Research and Development Centers.

Bio:

Michael Stenner is the Chief Engineer of the Electronic Systems Innovation Center at the MTIRE Corporation. Electronic Systems includes about 400 scientists and engineers with expertise in signal processing, communications, sensors, RF, antennas, microelectronics, mechanical engineering, advanced manufacturing, and acoustic technology.

Michael has personal interests in the research and development of mission-focused hardware and software systems, with particular focus on sensing, imaging, and vision systems. Michael received a Ph.D. in optical physics from Duke University and conducted a post-doc at the University of Arizona and MIT. He has publications in Nature, Physical Review Letters, and numerous optical journals on topics including laser physics, pulse propagation, digital holography, optical compressive sensing, computational imaging, and optical key distribution using atmospheric turbulence.
