It’s time to sign up for the 2022 Faculty Symposium.
Hosted by the Office of the Provost and the Office of Research and Innovation, the symposium is a chance to recognize and celebrate faculty accomplishments in research, creative works, teaching, advising, mentorship, and community engagement. This year, the symposium is taking place on Nov. 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center. The full agenda for the day is now available on the Faculty Symposium website.
NEW! The Faculty Symposium, in collaboration with CELT, is proud this year to host Karolyn Kinane to present a Contemplative Pedagogy Talk: Pause to Notice: The Role of Contemplation in Critical and Creative Endeavors from 2-3:30 p.m. The talk is open to all UMass Lowell community, but to help us plan, please RSVP to let us know if you will be attending.
We also encourage participants to present a 90-second lightning talk where faculty members from all disciplines give quick synopses of their current research and other scholarly work. Please register and submit materials for your lightning talk.
In addition, the symposium will include keynote talks, a conversation with the Office of Faculty Equity, and representatives from the library who will be available at selected times throughout the day. Visit the library table to learn about articles, books and other available resources. Attendees of the Faculty Symposium are also invited to stop by the library table to hear more about library plans for the next few years, and give feedback on strategic directions.
Lastly, don’t forget to submit your digital artwork created through Wombo, an app that generates art based on text. Enter the title of your Ph.D. dissertation, recent publication, book, or other scholarly work and see the art created for you. We will print and display the first 50 submissions.
The goal of the symposium is for faculty to celebrate accomplishments, learn from one another and spark interdisciplinary collaborations. We hope to see you there.
