The Office of Student & Family Support Services would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our campus partners that participated in a highly successful Family Orientation program this summer. Summer 2022 Family Orientation reached a record number of participants spanning across 10, day-long orientation sessions, 1 overnight session, and 3 virtual disability services sessions. Families of in-state students, out-of-state-students, and international students enjoyed greater access to family orientation resources than ever before thanks to the availability of inclusive website and online resources and through ensuring that the program is one of the most affordable in-person programs in the state.

Nearly 700 parents and families representing nearly a quarter of the new incoming student class and representing all colleges were welcomed to campus, which was truly exciting after two previous summers of only virtual programming. Parents and families engaged with a number of offices that offered interactive informational sessions, including the Centers for Learning, Advising, and Student Success, the Solution Center, Health Services, Career Development, University Dining, and Prevention Education.

Additionally, families were able to visit offices on campus during an “Office Open House” section of the day, with staff from Residence Life, Multicultural Affairs, Student Conduct, Disability Services, Counseling, the Asian American Center for Excellence & Engagement, Study Abroad & International Experiences, the River Hawk Shop, Campus Recreation and Military & Veteran Services ready to answer questions.

Thank you again to all that participated and we look forward to future collaboration as we partner with parents and families.
