This fall, the Department of Public Health is offering a new course in Public Health Informatics and Technology (PHIT). This course is the first of several new courses we will be rolling out as part of the department’s focus on Public Health Informatics and Technology (PHIT).
PUBH.2031 Introduction to Public Health Informatics and Information Systems includes topics such as the evolution of public health information systems, the role of informatics in public health services, core concepts in public health informatics and ethics. Students will identify public health data sources and learn basic data visualization skills to describe different public health challenges.
This is one of the core courses for the Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Health Science option with PHIT focus area. It can also be taken as an elective for other majors. If you are interested in PHIT, this is a wonderful opportunity to know if this track will fit your academic goals.
