Throughout the Fall semester, participants will engage in an experiential and scholarly study of this increasingly popular approach to teaching, attend guest lectures, and receive guidance in course redesign that integrates contemplative tools and strategies. In Spring 2023, participants will implement and assess contemplative pedagogy in a course of their choosing. Notably, these courses will introduce contemplative pedagogy to nearly 542 graduate and undergraduate students at UML.
As a CELT initiative, this two-year project on contemplative pedagogy is part of CELT’s university-wide engagement in facilitating pedagogies that help students and faculty flourish in these challenging times. This commitment is also represented by CELT workshops, guest speakers, and the growing CELT library. We hope you will partake in all of these offerings and keep the pedagogy conversation going. For those who are interested in the growing field of Contemplative Pedagogy, keep your eye out for upcoming talks and presentations on this subject throughout the 2022-23 academic year and contact CELT@uml.edu with any questions!
