After 12 years of dedicated and committed service to UMass Lowell, Randy Tyndall, Principal Instructional Technologist, is retiring on May 20, 2022. Randy has been a valued resource to many faculty and staff during his time at UML. We would like to thank Randy for his unwavering support to faculty for all things related to classroom technology and online teaching. He was a main reason for the university’s successful migration to online course delivery during the pandemic and was the point of contact for all lecture capture requests on campus.

Randy has the knack to make faculty and staff at ease implementing new technology and is quick to provide support and suggestions to improve technology centric course delivery. During his tenure at UML, the growth of the lecture capture infrastructure and the increased reliability of this resource were a direct result of his efforts. He was always the ‘man behind the curtain’ for all high profile hybrid events on campus, and his calm demeanor has enabled many events to go off without a hitch.

His retirement will leave a bit of a gap in the Instructional Technology team, but he will continue to assist with the transition of responsibilities to junior staff members.

Randy plans to spend more time travelling with his wife Lynn, more gigs with his local band, and taking care of his hive of honey bees.
