The Kennedy College of Science, Department of Chemistry, invites you to attend a Master's thesis defense by Emily Schaffter entitled “Exploring the Interaction Between the N2A Region of Titin and the Calcium Binding Proteins Calmodulin and S100A1.”

The defense will be held on Monday, April 18 at 10 a.m. via Zoom.

Please contact Suzanne_Young@uml.edu for meeting information if you are interested in attending.

The committee will be composed of:

Abstract: Titin is a muscle protein in the sarcomere that is involved in muscle function. The N2A region of this protein has been recognized as a signaling hub with the muscle and understanding the reactions that it is involved in is critical for understanding muscle diseases. This thesis discusses the analysis of the interaction between the N2A-IS with two different calcium binding proteins, calmodulin and S100A1, that are predicted to bind to this region. The binding was analyzed using different biophysical techniques to evaluate the nature of these binding interactions.

All interested students and faculty members are invited to attend.
