Join Plastics Engineering Professor David Kazmer for an upcoming webinar, Cost and Sustainability Comparison of Injection Molding with 3D Printing.
When: Thursday, April 14, 2022
Time: 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. ET
This webinar is offered by UMass Lowell in technical partnership with Plastindia International University.
Overview:
The economic and environmental cost of injection molding is compared with fused filament fabrication and a hybrid 3D printing/molding process called injection printing. The analysis includes the cost and environmental footprint of prototype, cold runner, and hot runner injection molding with breakeven analysis indicating preferred sustainability strategies.
Learning Outcomes:
- Better understand the carbon footprint of mold tooling
- Learn about the energy efficiency of manufacturing processes
- Gain insight into competitive strategy as it relates to injection molding vs. injection printing
