As we head toward the end of the year, I wanted to provide an update on the implementation of salary increases for employees.

As previously announced, the negotiated salary increases for our professional and police units were submitted to and funded by the Legislature and have been implemented. Similar increases for non-unit employees have been processed and implemented as well.

Upon agreement and ratification, the university also submitted for state funding, as required by law, contracts for our Faculty, Maintenance and Trades, and Clerical units during this last legislative session.

Unfortunately, the Legislature did not act on the funding requests prior to its session break. At this time, we understand that the Legislature will be returning to session in the new year and are optimistic that it will fund those collective bargaining agreements, including retroactive pay to July 2020.

In addition, I am pleased that the university has completed negotiations that include salary increases for our grant funded and graduate student units. Those increases are not funded by the state and the university will work diligently to implement them by year’s end.
